Since a few years ago the Indonesian government has set East Indonesia as the focus of regional development. Hasanuddin University through the Urban and Regional Development study program is one of the main sources that is expected to be able to prepare regional, urban, rural and transportation planners to anticipate the pace of development. The Urban dan Regional Development Planning study program aims to produce outcomes that have interdisciplinary knowledge and insights (social, economic, political, engineering, and other related sciences) to analyze both problems and potential, as well as planning and formulating regional, urban, rural and transportation development policies .

  • Producing graduates that generally able to develop and implement both science and technology in urban and rural planning, particularly in coastal and islands.
  • Conducting research in regional development planning in general, and particularly in shores and islands.
  • Conducting a community service through assistance and consultation on the application of science and technology in regional development planning to the community and government.


  • General

General aims of this program is to produce graduates that are capable of:

  1. Conducting research in the area of planning and development of regions, both land and sea;
  2. Developing and apply theories, research results and concepts in regional spatial planning in general as well as specifically coastal and island areas;
  3. Controlling the utilization of space in a region;
  4. Evaluating regional development and provide recommendations for revisions and new plans for structuring an area.

In particular the study program aims to produce graduates that are capable of:

  1. Taking role as a academician and/or practitioner who has the knowledge and ability to develop regional planning concepts in an environmentally-based system approach.
  2. Analyzing the problems and potential of the region in an integrated manner (through interdisciplinary of social, economic, political, engineer and other related approaches). By using theories and the results of the analysis, graduates are capable of formulating the basis and concepts in preparing the planning and development of regions, urban, rural and island areas.
  3. Developing knowledge and creativity in research activities to improve community service in the field of research and development. Graduates are capable of formulating recommendations for development planning.
  4. Applying the concepts by using qualitative and quantitative research methodology in accordance with the development of science, technology in regional development. The application of concept is carried out in independent research and scientific writing.

Specialization in Management Planning

This concentration is intended to produce graduates with the title of Master of Science (M.Si.) with the main and supporting competency and qualifications as follows:

Main competencies:

  • Mastering the  scientific approaches and methods in management planning and in the implementation of performance- and participatory-based of regional development planning management.
  • Capable of developing professional performance as a staff planner in the region through the sharpness of planning analysis which includes the integrative solutions to problems in regional and national planning.

Supporting competencies:

Having the ability to understand and solve problems in regional development planning based on scientific principles and rules.

Specialization in Youth Leadership Management

  1. Background

Leadership as the main element in organization can be developed academically, particularly the leadership of youth which play an active role in nation building.

In leadership, many factors are related to each other for one’s success as a leader. Therefore, it is necessary to have systematic and planned learning method to produce a reliable and high-quality leader.

Youth as potential leaders of the nation are expected to have leadership knowledge, skills and attitudes to be implemented in their activities in youth organizations and the community, at the regional, national and even international levels.

On this basis, the Ministry of Youth and Sports held the Master Program for the Regional Development Planning with Specialization in Youth Leadership Management in collaboration with Hasanuddin University

  • Targeted Participant

The participants are specifically targeted to activist in youth organizations and youth-based community organizations.

Criteria for Participants from Youth Organizations / Youth-Based Community Institutions:

  1. Bachelor of any discipline.
  2. Maximuma age is 30 years old.
  3. Member or Active Committee of Youth Organzation or Youth-Based Community Institutions at National or Regional level
  4. Currently have no bound with another Scholarship Program at State or Private Universities in the country or abroad.
  5. Currently not registered and bound to work as a Civil Servant (PNS).
  6. Get recommendations / permission from the leadership of the organization.
  7. Willing to develop leadership programs in their organizations and in the regions.



Candidate has a Bachelor’s degree obtained at a State University / Private Institution which has a bachelor’s examination that meets the requirements set by the Ministry of National Education or a graduate of a foreign institution whose diploma has been approved and is considered equivalent to a diploma in Indonesia by Ministry of National Education.

For foreign participants, additional provisions apply that those concerned have mastered Bahasa Indonesia and obtained permission from the Ministry of National Education.


A. Academic Requirement

  1. Bachelor degree (thesis pathway) from an accredited institution.
  2. English language skills and academic abilities in accordance with the provisions of the Graduate School of Hasanuddin University
  3. Pass the selection test of the Graduate School of Hasanuddin University.
  4. Never declared as dropped out student at one of the Graduate School Study Programs or from other universities.
  5. The bachelor graduates of Hasanuddin University with the title of the best graduates in the last two years would be able to continue their education at the Graduate School of Hasanuddin University in the same field of science without an entrance examination.

Registration is open from February to April and from October to November. Online payment of the selection exam fee of Rp. 750,000, – through BTN Bank throughout Indonesia to get a user ID and password (on proof of payment). Furthermore, it required to fill in the online registration form through by using the user ID and password after payment.


The tuition fee is Rp. 7.500.000 per semester
